Mike Swick not expecting to go the distance against Matt Brown

Last August, Mike Swick entered the Octagon after a two and a half year layoff to defeat DaMarques Johnson in a come-from-behind victory via knock-out at UFC on Fox 4. Embarrassed by how that fight started, Swick claims to have learned a lot from it. When asked about his upcoming fight with Matt Brown, he said, “I don’t see me and him throwing punches at each other for three rounds and nothing happening” . . . it’s who gets the sweet spot first.” Swick believes his punches will have more meaning behind them.

During the two year layoff, Swick kept himself busy getting healthier, working towards establishing a gym in Thailand and running his printing business but not a day went by where he wouldn’t be thinking about his fight career. Diagnosed with esophageal spasm, his body couldn’t do what he wanted it to do. “Sometimes I was trying as hard as possibly could but it just wasn’t enough” says Swick about his battle to get healthy.

Now healthy and felling great, he is expecting to make a statement this Saturday at the KeyArena as UFC makes its second visit to Seattle with another sold out show. “I gonna headhunt and look for the finish early” says the fighter.
