Showing up a bit early for a 10AM with Randy Couture at his gym in Las Vegas, I was told that he just got done training and will be available shortly. I was thinking to myself, “Randy still trains? He’s retired from fighting. Why does he still train?” A few moments later he greeted me and answered that question and let us know whats going on in Randy’s world.

“It’s a way of life you know” says Randy about his training, “I came in at eight and will be back at five… its just what you do.” When asked if he would come out of retirement again and take a fight with Fedor, “No” says Couture without hesitation. “I’m over it. I got out at the right time. Made a good decision and went out on my own terms…. I’m happy with it.”

Randy has been staying busy outside the gym as well with his acting career. The Expendables 3 is scheduled to begin filming in August this year. “I think we might be going back to Bulgaria” says Randy [laughing]. “They’re all fans of MMA” added Randy of Sylvester Stallone and the rest of the action stars in The Expendables who often ask Randy about fighting.

This past December he finished filming a movie called “Rush” in which he plays a bad cop. “Probably going to shock a lot of people. I do some things in the movie that will make people go ‘Oh my god!'” slated Randy. He has another movie with martial artist Scott Adkins which will be filming sometime this year in Vancouver B.C. Many people may recognize Scott from The Expendables 2 where he played bad guy Hector.

Last week news leaked of a deal between Randy and Spike TV. Randy  was not able to disclose any information due to contract obligations but did comment on the reactions of the leak. “Dana and Zuffa are obviously on the war path” says Randy “They are trying to skew things their way and run me down.” Dana did make some comments last week regarding Randy to which Randy said “Dana’s a big cry baby. I gave them every opportunity to keep me with the company but they didn’t want to do that. You have to take opportunities as they come. This is good for the sport. I have a lot of passionate for this sport and so does Dana. This expansion creates opportunities for the athletes and is good for MMA.”
