Coming into a fight with Marcus LeVesseur one would expect to be on their back for majority of the fight. Abel Trujillo had a something else in mind on Saturday’s UFC of Fox event in Seattle. Now training with the Blackzillians, Abel entered the Octagon with a four fight win streak looking to make a statement on his debut.
As soon as the fight commenced, Marcus did as expected and went for a take down but found himself struggling against a very agile athlete. Every time Marcus brought Able down, he would bounce back up never completely being taken down. The fight started to change as Abel landed elbows and punches from the clinch, not just rabbit punches, but strong hard shots. This technique has been seen before, but not with the power and frequency as Abel displayed as he wore down Marcus and eventually got the referee stoppage at 3:52 of the second round.
Having a big physique resembling Gleison Tibau, Abel has sure gotten the attention of the lightweight division. A great start for his UFC career.
