Grave Danger of the Rat City Rollergirls were invited to bout in Anchorage, Alaska with the Rage City Rollergirls this November 09. I was invited to tag along and take photos of the weekend. I accepted. It was so much fun. The women are truly amazing; tough, fit, edgy, crazy, down to earth and very nice. It was a pleasure getting to meet all of them.
It was my first time at an official bout. The last time I remember roller derby was when I was a little kid in the 70’s. I had no idea it had made such an amazing comeback, especially in Seattle. As for the bout in Alaska, it was exciting to watch. Grave Danger dominated Rage City Rollergirls. I took some pretty good photos too. However, I haven’t had a lot of experience in taking action shots especially in low light, but I managed.
