There’s something more to Friday night lights this season, and it’s a lingerie show; well, of sort… Seattle has a new pro-football team and they are known as the Seattle Mist. An all female lingerie clad football team.
Think it’s a joke? Think again, it’s not touch or flag football these gals are playing, it’s real, hardcore, and aggressive 7-on-7 tackle football on an indoor field.
I’ve been curious about the ten team league every since I learned about it a year ago, and have been waiting to catch a glimpse of what might be a foolish fad. Not the case.
I hold a new respect for the girls and the teams that have been put together. They played hard, and entertained the crowd of people that were in attendance, but I expected more people to be at the inaugural season opening at the Kent Showare Center. Perhaps it was the lack of promoting the league or lack there of funds to do the proper promoting, but I certainly hope the league goes beyond its inaugural season.
From the opening kick-off to the last pass of the game, fans were on their feet screaming, yelling, and kringing at some of the hits and blocks that the girls were putting on one another.
The San Diego Seduction won the coin toss, but the Seattle Mist dominated from the get-go. The Mist had the size and weight advantage (if you call 130 a weight advantage) over the visiting team.
I was so into the game, that couldn’t tell you what the final score was, but I can tell you the the Mist came out on top.
If you want to catch one of these games, you’d better plan in advance. There’s only four games total, and the next home game will be the last of the season, so mark your calendars for January 1, 2010 and prepare for a fun and entertaining night with your buddy’s or even a date.
