Testing the LED 1144 dimmable photo and video light

I received my LED 1144 on Monday, but the first one had a slight issue with the power adapter. I contacted Amazon since it was ordered and fulfilled by them. Well, much to my surprise, they really don’t stand behind doing excellent customer service.

I was told that their policy is not an exchange damaged or non-working items, and that I would have to get a refund and reorder. (I was told this by two different CS agents) I then contacted Jason at ephoto. Even it was not their responsibility to take care of what came out of Amazon’s warehouse, Jason took care of me and gave me a UPS return shipping label and sent a new one to me free of charge on 2 day UPS ground. He even tested it himself before sending it to me. A+ service!

Anyhow, as for the LED 1144, the package arrived as promised and shipped in a well protected box. The construction of the light was to my satisfaction. The main housing of the LED’s was made of durable aluminum or metal of some kind, but the mount for the light to a stand was made of plastic. I think it should hold up as long as it’s not abused.

The LED’s give off a green tint so you’ll need to use a colored gel to correct that. Better to do this upfront than in post.

Anyhow, watch the video and you’ll see for yourself that the $300 light does what it’s supposed to do, and for now it’s good enough at a good enough price that won’t break the bank.
